About GIDE Latin America

GIDE Latin America, the Latin American chapter of the Global Initiative for Digital Empowerment (GIDE), gathers regional experts to advance human-centred digital governance in the region. The founding members are Dr. Julia Pomares, guest professor at Di Tella University and former Executive Director of CIPPEC; Dr. Paul Twomey, co-chairman at GIDE; and Vicente Arias González, associate at GIDE and project adviser at the Global Solutions Initiative.

We are committed to develop digital policies that foster multi-stakeholder collaboration. Leveraging our regional insights and GIDE’s global experience, the chapter aims to drive human-centred digital transformation across Latin America.

GIDE Latin America is set to become a registered non-profit in Santiago, Chile

Podcast: “Fantasmas en los algoritmos”

In collaboration with Infobae, the largest online news outlet in the Americas, our founding members produced a podcast series titled “Fantasmas en los Algoritmos”. We invited leading experts across Latin America and discussed how Artificial Intelligence will impact our region. Aimed at the general public, it raises awareness about the challenges and opportunities AI presents to our societies.

Policy Brief: “The Challenges of Governing AI-Elections”

We have published a policy brief titled “The Challenges of Governing AI-Elections” in the Global Solutions Journal, issue 10. This brief addresses how countries in the Americas can tackle the challenges of AI in elections, providing valuable insights and policy recommendations.
